Harrow showing the way forward in healthcare

Newcastle based Chartered Building Surveyors, Harrow Consulting, have been appointed, by City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust,  to carry out a high level review of the current signage and wayfinding strategy at Sunderland Royal Hospital.

Harrow Consulting will analyse the current hospital use, by staff, visitors and patients, and produce a new Wayfinding Strategy aligned to the latest NHS guidelines. A full new signage scheme will be also be designed to compliment the strategy, which will be implemented by early 2013.

The Sunderland Royal Hospital site has benefited from extensive redevelopment in recent years, and the commission is considered essential in integrating the state of the art buildings with the first class patient service provision.

City Hospitals Sunderland is an Acute Trust providing a wide range of hospital services such as A&E, surgical and medical specialties, therapy services, maternity and paediatric care. They ensure that clinical practice remains at the forefront of medicine, and seek to adopt innovative ways of working to deliver a strong performance culture, which results in the Trust providing local communities with some of the highest quality healthcare in England.

Graeme Harker, a Partner at Harrow Consulting, commented:

“We look forward to working with City Hospitals Sunderland on this extremely important piece of work. We are delighted to have been selected as the preferred consultant, and this demonstrates the faith that the Trust has in our ability to provide first class bespoke property solutions.

This is an exciting phase in the hospital development, and we look forward to playing a major part in the ongoing success story.”
