Harrow Under Way With Darlington College Expansion

Harrow Consulting  are leading the £2.5m project at Darlington College, bringing a complete revamp of its construction department as well as a new student services area with new IT facilities.

The programme is targeted to be complete in time for students returning after their summer break in September.

Harrow partner Nick Rowling said: “This is a fantastic project to be a part of. This is Darlington College’s biggest expansion project since they opened on their Haughton Road site in Darlington seven years ago.

“We have a fresh, ambitious approach and this fits perfectly with partners like the college who want solutions to be delivered on time to budget.”

The college’s enhanced construction area will include a dedicated entrance and advanced brick and plastering workshops, as well as green energy, electrical and plumbing workshops and new painting and decorating training suites.

The work, being undertaken by Northumberland-based Howard Russell Construction, will add some 1,500sqm of new floor space to the college.

There will be additional new teaching areas, as well as new changing and refreshment areas for the students.

A new learning resource sentre, student support services and a new IT facility will also be added, and will be finished with further improvements to the eye-catching glass atrium at the front of the building.

College principal Tim Grant said: “We are thrilled to have the Harrow team on board for what is a significant chapter in the history of Darlington College. It is a considerable investment, which will significantly enhance the students’ experience here.”
