Historic Building Conservation

Harrow Consulting Ltd have recently been appointed to undertake an extensive repair and conservation programme at the Grade II listed, Milburn House, Newcastle.

Built by the Milburn Family in 1905, Milburn House is an imposing Grade II Listed Building which was, at the time, the largest speculative office development in Europe (approximately 14,790sqm / 15,9198.24sqft).  The Milburn family had strong links to the shipping and coal industries, which is fully evident within the building as interiors share key design features of the grand ocean-going liners of the day, complete with deck-style floor designations A Floor through to G Floor.

Harrow were initially appointed to undertake an extensive building condition survey report detailing all external areas and existing defects requiring repair.  Following the report, Harrow were instructed to undertake relevant repair/conservation works.

Works briefly comprised masonry and stone restoration, masonry conservation, redecoration, roof renewal, window repairs, timber treatments/repairs and general building maintenance.
