Tyneside Foyer Refurbishment

The Tyneside Foyer, operated by Home Group, provides living accommodation for up to 72 vulnerable residents aged 16-25, as well as IT suites, training facilities, and staff offices.  The building was devastated by a large fire early in 2011, which gutted the entire interior of the building.

Harrow Consulting were appointed as Lead Consultant on the refurbishment project with the task of ensuring that ‘The Tyneside Foyer’ was transformed into an industry leading facility for homeless young people.

Our appointment as Lead Design Consultant incorporated Architectural Design Services, Project Management, Site Waste Management and CDM Co-ordinator services. Harrow were chosen as the preferred Consultant through our extensive refurbishment experience within the sector and, in particular, our specialist knowledge of fire re-instatement works.

The contract value of the project was £2.2 Million, with a 36 week contract programme.

Harrow  ensured that all stakeholders involved in the project have adopted a collaborative approach in order to ensure a successful outcome to the refurbishment project.

The refurbishment project completed in January 2012, ahead of the programmed completion date, whilst also being within the financial constraints agreed with the building insurers.

‘The Harrow team have really impressed us with the quality and practicality of their design ideas. They have shown just how impressive this sort of facility can be designed to be’.
