Hoults Estates Refurbishment Schemes

Hoults Yard, located in the Ouseburn Valley just 2 minutes from Newcastle City Centre, has been transformed in recent years from an industrial estate to a vibrant and flexible office complex with character. The site benefits from the presence of entrepreneurs in PR, design, digital, marketing, manufacturing, audio visual, conference production and general business.

The yard was originally constructed for renowned Tyneside pottery manufacturer, Malings which, at its peak, employed over 1,000 staff at the site. The Hoult family acquired the business and used the space for storage and removals until 1983.

Harrow Consulting were initially approached by Charlie Hoult, Managing Director of Hoults Estates to handle a major refurbishment project to the old railhead building, an historic warehouse building of over 20,000 SqFtHarrow were appointed as Employers Agent to manage the £800k adaptation and refurbishment of the building to form head office accommodation and a European distribution centre for a major High Street jewellery manufacturer.

Harrow have further assisted Hoults in providing architectural design services, feasibility studies, and space planning services on a number of vacant buildings on Hoults Yard, with a view to attracting top class tenants to the site. Our involvement has extended to cost planning and 3D modelling of proposed office alterations and fit-out works.

We will be supporting Hoults Estates in all aspects of the future development of Hoults Yard, from producing architectural visuals of how a space could look to carrying out specialised planning and architectural design for new tenants. A big part of our brief is also to look at the retention of original features and their inclusion in the refurbished spaces.

“We decided to approach the Harrow team soon after they moved in as we like to work with our clients and support them wherever possible. I’ve been very impressed by their professional approach and the support they have given in helping us to deliver this major project on time and within budget. Harrow’s vision chimes with our ambitions for Hoults Yard. They are already working collaboratively with a number of our other clients – further reinforcing the creative and commercial hub.”
